Music in May
Abigail’s dad co-founded Music in May with violinist Rebecca Jackson-Picht, who is the MiM Artistic Director. Abigail serves on the advisory board, and is the editor of the festival’s printed program and a contributor to the MiM website.
Our Mission
MiM is committed to bringing the joy of contemporary and classical chamber music to the Santa Cruz community, to enriching the lives of underserved youth through access to music and musicians, and to raising awareness of other local non-profit organizations who are committed to strengthening community and enhancing how all of us live and thrive.
What We Do
Leading up to the annual festival, which brings renowned musicians to Santa Cruz for a full week of concerts, we focus on underserved youth, principally through a host of free programs in schools and at the juvenile detention facility. Equally importantly, we cultivate partnerships with other non-profit organizations that serve and help sustain the vibrancy of our local community.

Food, What?!
Suz Howells, Abigail’s colleague and friend who sadly couldn’t travel to The Wedding™, is a generous founding board member of Food, What?!
Our Mission
“Food, What?!” is a youth empowerment and food justice organization. At FoodWhat, youth engage in relationships with land, food and each other in ways that are grounded in love and rooted in justice.
Our Program
Youth from Watsonville to Santa Cruz join the FoodWhat Crew through our Spring Internship, Summer Job Training and Fall Project Management programs. FoodWhat youth use organic farming, nourishing food and loving community as vehicles to grow on their own

Doris Day Animal
Foundation
Wendy is a lifelong fan of Doris Day, and Wendy and Abigail are committed to animal welfare and are pathologically indulgent pet parents.
A life-long animal lover and advocate, Doris Day recognized that the animal welfare community in the 1970s was a sorely lacking landscape, and that through her own organization and celebrity status she could make a difference for the animals. Her grassroots efforts resulted in Doris’ personally rescuing hundreds of animals over the years. The Doris Day Animal Foundation (DDAF) is a national, nonprofit 501(c)(3) Public Charity founded in 1978 as the Doris Day Pet Foundation by legendary performer, Doris Day, with a straightforward mission that continues to this day: to help animals and the people who love them. As a grant-giving charity, DDAF funds other 501(c)(3) organizations across the United States that directly care for and protect animals.
